2001 DUCATI Monster 900ie (Paul Smart) SOLD

We purchased this bike in 2018, originally finished in dark blue and it had traveled 26,000klms with a reasonable service history, fairly clean but generally requiring a good tidy up.
So we thought, as we have two other fairly tidy and running same model bikes, this one will be the perfect choice for a mild customisation!

As most DUCATI aficionado's know, Paul Smart rode to victory a silver flake with sea green frame DUCATI 750 Racer in 1972 (Imola 200) - the road going version 750SS soon appeared followed by the 900SS in 1976, bikes which put DUCATI on the map.
In 2006 DUCATI released the Paul Smart Replica powered by the aircooled 1000cc DS engine, basically a GT1000 Sport Classic with a silver flake fairing and tank, metallic sea green frame and a few extra good bits.
So we set set about doing our own Monster 900ie version - a full strip down, rebuild, repaint and service until we had a "Paul Smart Monster"- a tribute to the great racer!
And why did DUCATI use the metallic sea green frame on the original bike - it was colour they were painting their marine engines at the time and decided to use it as their race colour!
Modifications include ….
Tank finished in silver metallic flake, frame in metallic sea green and wheels in black gloss
Complete strip down, engine resprayed in matt black ceramic coat, every nut and bolt either polished or painted and replaced if required
SP carbon fibre mufflers, K&N pod filters and oil breather filter
Full service including cam belts, fluids, brake pads, chain and sprockets
